Will there be a hint of revenge for the Barca friendly? By Benjie Jackson @MUFCbloggerUTD:

On the 30th July, United will meet
European arch rivals Barcelona in a friendly match. Hosted in the presidential US city of Washington; I'm sure that the word 'friendly' will not be the best description of the encounter. Despite the match only being a 'friendly'; I am sure SAF and the players will feel that this is a big chance to show the European champs that they have a massive challenge ahead of the new season.

You can expect that SAF will display a strong team while giving a few of the younger players a run out. The news is that Victor Valdes and the great Leo Messi may miss the match and that our own Chicharito is definitely absent from the fixture. In my opinion this gives Dimitar Berbatov and a few of the other strikers lower down in the hierarchy something to cease upon. I would also like to see the likes Smalling and Jones have a runabout because in my opinion they would be a very bullish and tough opponent for Barca. I would also love to see Fergie use Ando as a key player to see how he copes with the occasion; we saw him play in the 2009 final but I think he has improved considerably since that 2-0 defeat. I would also like to see Ashley Young play, not only on the wing but through the middle in an attacking midfield role possibly. Furthermore, I think Tom Cleverley should be given a a 45 minute cameo. Pep is likely to use youth starlet Thiago Alcantara; and it will be interesting to see Tom and Thiago face to face, additionally it will be a great chance for Cleverley to prove his worth in the team.

Now to the goalkeepers; I think SAF will be fair and give both De Gea and Lindegaard a half each - he has already promised to play De Gea in the Community Shield Trophy vs Man City before the new season starts so you won't expect to see De Gea play a full match. Moreover, De Gea has played a few times against Barcelona and won a man of the match medal at the Nou Camp last season after a magical display in front of the woodwork.

Every United fan is eagerly anticipating the match and rightfully so. It should be a cracker...5-0 maybe?
