Setting The Things Right - Manchester United vs Wigan game review by @AdityaNayak12

After 2 weeks of International Break, Premier League kick started back to Life again and it did so in spectacular fashion for Manchester United and its fans. Manchester United showed some lethal second half skills to trounce Wigan by 4 goals on a warm afternoon at OT. Debutants Alexander Buttner and Nick Powell both scored some magnificent goals and also Paul Scholes capping his 700th appearance in united kit with a goal for himself. The Red Devils with this victory have risen up to the second spot in the table, one point behind leaders Chelsea who had a goalless draw against QPR.

The game was tipped to be a memorable one for United even before the start with Paul Scholes Completing his 700th game, Ryan Giggs having his 600th league appearance, Rio Ferdinand’s 400th and Sir Alex Ferguson’s 500th home league game and it certainly lived up to that. United Started the first half with RVP, Kagawa, Evra and David De Gea all on the bench. Once again Sir Alex not letting people down with his surprising starting line ups. This however meant that Hernandez, Giggs, Buttner all got their first start of the season. United Started off well and were rewarded a controversial penalty when Welbeck tripped inside the box on the 5th minute, Chicharito stepped up to take but had a horrible effort putting the ball right into Wigan goal keeper’s hands. After that miss things just died down and crowd at OT was given a very dull and boring display by a very slow paced United. There were chances for Welbeck to score but he just couldn’t direct it to the goal and at the same time Wigan were having their chances as well. The First half ended the same way it started with perhaps Buttner being the most impressive man on the field on his debut.

The second half started with a little more pace in the game as Nani started to take the centre role of creating chances and quite rightly so on the 51st minute United took lead with legendary Paul Scholes tapping in on a deflected shot by Nani. Things got even better on 63rd minute as Chicharito compensated for his penalty miss with his first goal of the season, Buttner made the assist. Wigan was now having an uphill task and United sensed the reduction in their determination in their opponents. Wigan game turned to nightmare on 66th min when Buttner capped his breath taking run on the full length of the pitch with an outstanding goal. Buttner looked delighted with the effort and so was everyone at Old Trafford, a very memorable debut by the lad. Nick Powell Came on for Ryan Giggs and RVP was substituted on for Scholes bringing the both the legends afternoon to a early closure but United marched on hunting for more goals. Nick Powell completed the routing on the 82nd minute with a lovely strike from outside the box and providing united fans with Double Debut delight. All of Manchester United’s 4 summer signings have now scored in home debut games – picture perfect.

The game finally ended for Wigan who looked shell shocked with such a colourful second half display by the Devils. United might have started the second half with the same line up, but they looked like a completely different team. The win also gave United its first clean sheet of the season and saw them going above their noisy neighbours in the standings. Red Devils will next face Liverpool at Anfield but only after the mid-week Champions league game against Galatasaray at home.
