The Perfect Revenge - Newcastle Vs Manchester United game review by Aditya Nayak (@AdityaNayak12)

News Photo: Man United player Jonny Evans celebrates after scoring…Manchester United produced one of their finest performances of the season as they trounced the Toons by 3 goals at the Sports Direct Arena. Evans and Evra gave united early two goal lead and Cleverley sealed the victory late in the second half with a fantastic strike. Manchester United having been defeated in the last game by Tottenham had made this game a very crucial one for themselves especially after Chelsea, Arsenal and ManCity had all won their respective matches on Saturday. With the Victory Manchester United have now climbed up to second on the table, four points behind Chelsea and tied on points with the blue team of Manchester.

The Red Devils started off very brightly with Rooney, RVP and Welbeck upfront causing Defenders nightmare from the very beginning. Sir Alex had opted for a very narrow 4-3-3 formation which was against United's style of play and this perhaps was the masterstroke as Newcastle didn’t seem to be ready for such a formation by their opponents. Rightly so United took the lead on the 8th min when Evans headed home a beautiful corner by RVP. Minutes Later United won another corner and this time it was taken by Rooney who found Evra's head perfectly. Newcastle without their First and Second choice keepers were clearly struggling to stay in the match. After the second goal though United once again fell asleep in the midfield and Newcastle ceased the chance to dominate the game. Chances after Chances fell to Newcastle but they couldn’t finish it into goals either because of poor finishing or due to some last ditched defending by the Red Devils.

The Story of Newcastle’s dominance continued into the second half and united even though having changed back to 4-4-2 by substituting Valencia in the place of Kagawa were not able to keep hold of the ball. The dominance was clearly irritating the United players and as a result a number of fouls and few yellow cards were picked up. Finally on the 71st minute United sealed the win with a fantastic Long range curler by Cleverley. The young Newcastle keeper had no choice but to watch the ball go past him and into the net. Newcastle however continued to press on but to no avail. One of their biggest drawback were the Set pieces, even after getting a huge number of corners and Free kicks Newcastle really weren’t able to create any huge threat to United from them. The game ended with United taking a perfect revenge over the toons for the defeat at the same place at the very beginning of this year. This was Manchester United’s second clean Sheet of the season and David De gea’s first. Rooney though yet to open his goal tally this season won the man of the match for his wonderful overall performance. He was brilliant going forward but equally classy defending whenever required – a complete player.
