With Just Over ten games gone in the league, Manchester United
Find themselves to be on top with a two points gap over their noisy neighbors. So far United have managed to win at Stamford Bridge after a huge gap of 10
years, manage to get 3 points over their arch rivals Liverpool at Anfield and also
beat Arsenal at Old Trafford. In addition, United have also made up for Last
year’s disappointment by qualifying for the knockout stages of Champions League
with a 100% record. So who have been United’s heroes in the first few weeks of
the season? During a time where all the teams look to settle down and find a rhythm
in themselves who are the ones who were performing at their best for the Red
devils? This Article is just to highlight those few names.
5. Michael Carrick – He is the only guy who has started and
played all the 90 minutes of every game in the Premier league so far for
United. Though he started the season in a very shaky manner and was often found
guilty of giving away the ball in Dangerous area, he has in the last few games
been very composed and has the 2nd best passing stats in the league
so far (937 passes completed). He may not be Finding assists with those passes
but his main job is to find the player on the flanks and that he is been doing
pretty well. He also seems to be now coming to terms with his new young partner
Cleverley in the midfield.
4. Wayne Rooney – Lost a month due to injury and yet to
fully adjust to his new deep lying role behind the striker but still Rooney has
found himself to be in the heart almost every attacking move that United make.
He may not have the goals tally that he normally would have by now but that is
mainly due to fact he is now playing more like Trequartista rather than a
conventional Center forward. He has already developed a very nice going partnership
with Robin Van Persie which is very pleasing to watch as a united fan and a
nightmare for any defence. In Addition to all this Rooney has also impressed
with his defensive capabilities often staying back and clearing the ball out or
throwing himself on a last ditch challenge and executing it perfectly. Overall Rooney
has been more of a complete player in the squad but yet to bring out his very
best in this season.
3. Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez – He is often dubbed as the
next ‘Ole Gunnar Solskjear’ or the ‘Baby faced Assassin’ and this season he is
fulfilling those requirements. He is getting developed into the super sub for
united and his poacher instincts are making him very successful at that. He
started the season being benched mostly for which Sir Alex has reasoned saying
it was because he needed rest after the heavy summer schedule. It seems like
resting him in the starting few games was the right thing to do cause now it
looks like he has found his proper rhythm, 6 goals in the last 6 games
justifying it. Hernandez is second behind Solskjear in goal tally of scoring
from coming off the bench, a technique which Ole had mastered at his time with
the Red Devils.
2. Robin Van Persie – Robin has been the highlight of almost
all the United games so far and has amassed a total of 11 goals in all
competitions for United already. There were lot of questions asked when he
signed from arsenal for a fee 24mil pounds but the 29 year old just has buried all
doubts with his goal tally. RVP has found him to be on the lips every united
fan and is quickly becoming one of the best transfers of this Season in the
league, truly a masterstroke by Sir Alex. It is not just the goals that he
scores that has made him so successful so quickly but also he has been able to
create Scoring opportunities by often diving wide and trying to find a cross.
His specialization in the corners is added asset to united and is already
showing up as united have managed to score 7 goals of Corners so far this
season. His partnership with Rooney will be the one to watch out for and is
promised to bring upon a lot of entertainment to united fans.
1. Rafael Da Silva – Rafael has to be one of the most
improved players not just at united but overall in the league. He is shined
throughout the games this season and cemented that right wing back spot for
himself. Last year he offered a lot of pace and courage going forward but
showed a great amount weakness defensively but this year though he hasn’t been
perfect he has been able to keep that composure while defending and has found
himself taking on much larger players with courage and winning the ball. For a
22 year old the progress Rafael has been showing game after game has been
phenomenal. He has also added more charm to his performance with a wonderful
left footed goal at Anfield which united fans will savour for some time to
come. Two goals and couple of assist for a right back within 10 games in a
season is no less than fantastic and his partnership Valencia on the right wing
looks to be causing a lot of problems to the defenders. The future looks
promising.
