Well what can I say about this much discussed topic. Apart from the fact that, in my opinion something needs to be done. Whether we purchase a defensive/holding midfielder or an attacking midfielder doesn't bother me, but what bothers me is the fact that we dramatically need to ameliorate this certain area of our team.
Yes, we have a few very talented midfielders that monopolize and outshine many other players in the Premier League; however we can't miss the point that on the 28th May 2011, Mr. Xavi and Mr. Iniesta seemingly demolished our midfield. Therefore, if we would like to coalesce with the standard of Barcelona we must, must improve our midfield neighbourhood.
So it's my turn to answer the rather obvious question, who? Over the whole of summer the name Wesley Sneijder has come into perspective, and congratulations Sir Alex for telling every feverish United fan that the chance of the Dutch King coming to United wasn't in his diary. Also Arsenal and France's Samir Nasri, had the same message from Mr Ferguson, "No, I don't think he's coming to United."
So then we all start looking at the possible options. I've introduced a few realistic options, so away from the bizarre gossip of Goal.com and caughtoffside.com produce - here are a few to think of. Firstly, Daniel de Rossi, Roma's 27 year-old defensive midfielder has just rejected the chance of a new contract from his club and for 20 million Sterling SAF could have the chance of bringing a very talented player to us. Next we have Marek Hamsik, a personal favourite of mine. At just 23 the attacking midfielder from Napoli would certainly meliorate our midfield; however Napoli's president has wacked a whopping great 88m price tag on the Slovakian captain. Finally, Ever Benega, the 23 year old Argentine International is a less known name in Manchester. However, he is young, strong, intelligent and could certainly be an asset to our team.
The waiting goes on at Old Trafford and lets hope that we aren't let down.

Great blog. I'd go for Benega, cheaper, young and a great player.
