United vs Barca Preview: Reported by @alto101010, Alun Belmont...

On Saturday 30th July the two giants of world football will meet in Washington. Manchester United will take on the European champions and arguably the best club side the world has seen FC. Barcelona. Both sides will have some big players missing on Saturday but will still have enough talent and world class players on show to turn this into a exciting exhibition match for the American public.

The last time these 2 sides met Barca came out on top, completely outclassing Utd to lift the European cup for a 4th time. This game obviously doesn't hold anywhere near the same importance as that game but both managers will want to take this seriously. Fitness is the main aim of the game but its a opportunity for both teams to try a few younger players to see how they fair against some of the biggest names in football.

The united goalkeeper battle is hotting up for the start of the season with Lindegard having  a very good preseason and new signing De Gea looking to cement a place. I imagine both keepers will get a fair run out against Barca to see if/how they cope with the best attacking side around.

Welbeck is another player who has had a good tour, coming of the back of a outstanding season at Sunderland he will be hoping he can get plenty of game time. Cleverley will want to prove he can hold his own in the United midfield, he hasn't had the best of tours but could be his chance to show he is up to the challenge.
With Chicharito through injury it's a chance for Berbatov to partner Rooney up front and stake a claim for the starting 11 come the West Brom game. I'm  interested to see how Young fairs against Alves with his pace and delivery a constant threat.

One player im keen to see play is Barcelona's Thiago he is having a blinding summer so far winning the u21's world cup with Spain and also showing some brilliant performances for Barca he will be one to watch out for in the future.

Players to watch:

De Gea-Man Utd
Welbeck-Man Utd
Cleverley-Man Utd
Rooney-Man Utd
Thiago-Barcelona
Iniesta--Barcelona
Villa-Barcelona

Players out:
Valencia-Man Utd
Chicarito-Man Utd
Valdes-Barcelona
Messi-Barcelona

Verdict:
Going to go for a Man Utd 2-1 win. Rooney and Young getting our goals. All in all it should be a thrilling game with both sides playing open attacking football.
