West Brom vs Manchester United preview by Alun Belmont @alto101010

With the premiership kick off only a few days away fans up and down the country will be looking for their team to improve on last seasons performance, Champions Manchester United will be looking to make it 20 league titles opening their campaign away at West Bromich Albion in a Sunday afternoon KO

Alex Ferguson will want to get off to a good start knowing his main title rivals have all improved their squads. United have been at home over the last 6years on opening day our last away fixture was in 2005 away to Everton, with the last opening day defeat at the hands of Chelsea in 2004.
Opening day fixtures last ten years;
P10 W7 D2 L1 F20 A5

I expect Ferguson to adopt the
4-4-2 formation that has served us so well towards the end of last season with Rooney dropping deep to reinforce the midfield and dictate the tempo of the game. Again i think our two wingers are vital, Nani looks to have continued his fine form from last season getting two goals in the community shield, whilst Young will feature on the left making his league debut for us. I would like to see Welbeck continue to partner Rooney up front, he has had a very good pre-season up front and seems to be playing with a new found belief after his loan spell at Sunderland. Most United fans are calling for Cleverley to start in midfield with Anderson but I would go with Carrick as he has the experience for a tough away fixture where we struggled last season. David De Gea will be handed his first Premiership start.

THE OPPOSITION:
West Brom will look to attack us  early on, after coming so close to beating us in the corresponding fixture last year Roy Hodgson will feel he can get something from the game. Last season West Brom opened there campaign against Chelsea suffering a heavy 6 nil defeat something they won't want a repeat of in front of their own fans.
Despite his brief and disastrous  spell as Liverpool manager Hodgson is a very good manager proving himself across europe. He has improved West Brom tactically making them a lot harder to beat.

THE DANGER MEN!

Peter Odemwingie
The Nigerian international signed from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2010 for a undisclosed fee, scoring on his premiership debut against Sunderland he went on to score 15 goals in 32 appearances last season.

Chris Brunt
Made Club captain by Hodgson when he took charge, a midfielder with an eye for goal, he was clubs top scorer when West Brom secured promotion back to premiership.

Ben Foster
The man who thinks it's ok to lose, Foster has been loaned in from relegated Birmingham having been instrumental for them last season helping them win the Carling Cup he will be looking to get one over on his old club.

VERDICT:
Both good friends the managers will be looking to get off to a positive start to the season. With the loan signing of ex United keeper Foster West Brom have further improved their defence having said that I think United attacking five will be to strong for their opponents. I'm going for a 2nil win away win. With Rooney and Nani both getting a goal each.
