A star will be born this season: By Rahul Ponodath @rahulponodath

We’re at the start of a new premiere league season, and off the back of a thrilling victory against our noisy neighbours (Manchester City) in the community shield, i for one am looking forward to this campaign with bucket loads of expectations and hopes!!
The season gone by has seen some of Manchester United’s greatest ever players hang up their boots. The likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, while some of our squad players, John O Shea and Wes Brown have moved on in search of more game time. The contributions of these players are nothing short of important to the team’s success over the years. Scholesy and Neville were part of the famous golden generation, unearthed by Sir Alex at a stage when Manchester United were just beginning to establish their dominance in English football in the 90s, while O Shea, well, Sheasy was a team man. More than ready to play anywhere, anytime, all for the team. He’s even kept goal once! A brilliant servant to United, as was Wes Brown, a very handy defender who’s played at various positions in the United defence.
Obviously, the going away of players like Scholes and Neville would cause the fans of most clubs to be very very worried about how the team would cope without them. But at Manchester United, the end of one career almost always marks the beginning of a new player’s career. Manchester United, through the ages have had a history of players stepping up to fill in voids left by outgoing players. Just like how Ronaldo came in for Beckham, he wasn’t so bad was he? ;-) also, Ryan Giggs replaced Lee Sharpe, and let’s be honest, Sharpe was pretty good, and giggsy, well we all know where he’s at now. So as a united fan, there’s one thing i’m dam sure of, Manchester United and Sir Alex Fergusson will most definitely bring forward a star for us. It could be cleverly, it could be the season where Anderson kicks on and fulfils his potential. Nobody knows who, but i’m sure there will be a new star on the United radar soon and that’s what is getting me excited for this season.
Yes, there’s been a lot of talk about Sneijder, and yes, i myself have lost a lot of sleep trying to follow the saga, but end of the day, Sneijder even though he would be a quality addition to our squad, i don’t think it is a big deal even if he doesn’t come to united. A lot of people are talking about experience, but what is important is, we cannot bring in experience at the expense of restricting the experience the likes of cleverly and others deserve to fulfil their potential.
That second goal in the community shield, brilliant interplay between cleverly, welbeck, rooney and nani, just a sign of the kinda potential that is waiting to burst out into the limelight at United. That goal was one that even Barcelona would’ve been pretty dam proud of!
So you united fans worrying about Sneijder, relax, sit back, and support our beloved United, because this season, a star will be born!
